marriage preparation

   Newlyweds

Premarital counseling can mean the difference between a successful happy marriage and a difficult or ultimately broken relationship.

We all enter a new relationship full of excitement and possibility and it is only later that we are surprised to realize that our partner is not as perfect as we thought (and nor are we).

Wouldn't it be nice to come out the other side. . . together?

The more you know about each other the better you are able to make a good decision that will impact the rest of your life. An AHS consultant will have you complete assessments, help you judge compatibility, assist you in seeing yourself and your partner in a realistic light and prepare you for some of the likely issues you will face as a couple. Such preparation will greatly increase your likelihood of a successful marriage.

  Option A

Cross cultural marriages bring a rich variety of experiences but also come with their own potential for difficulties. AHS has a variety of professionals to work with you, including bilingual specialists in mixed Korean marriages .

Traditionally couples have attended "pre-marital counseling", often with the minister who would later conduct their wedding  ceremony. However, we believe that this is not really about therapy, counseling or even advice, but rather education.

People generally take lessons and receive training for most anything in life; piano lessons, computer training, golf lessons, etc. In Korea, a commonly held belief is that if something is worth doing, it is worth getting lessons first (off to the hagwon!). Why should we think any differently when we're talking about loving the most important person in our life?
