Inclusive Services
At AHS we hold to the belief that therapy should be culturally relevant and open to anyone who is seeking care, change, and a place to process the complexities that come with being human. We care deeply about creating space for people and we hold to the highest ethical standards of inclusive work.
Therapy Process
Making an Appointment:
You can contact our inquiry specialists by office phone or by email to set up an initial conversation. The inquiry therapist who takes your call will support you in identifying which therapist would be the best fit for your particular goals, situation, preferences and schedule. This person will walk you through all of the steps in making an appointment, signing paperwork, and getting support with insurance usage if applicable. This person will also answer any questions about the process in general and will ensure that you have all of the information you need to make it to that first appointment.
First Appointment:
At your first appointment your therapist will listen as you describe your hopes for outcomes from therapy and the circumstances or issues that prompted you to seek therapy. Your therapist will also answer any questions or concerns that you may have about the process.
As you continue to meet with your therapist you will collaborate to organize thoughts and emotions, focus on changes you want, and identify best care for your needs until you feel that you have gotten what you need from the process.
Ongoing Appointments:
You and your therapist will then collaborate to identify the focus and approach for your personal preferences, personality, and therapy goals. You will also discuss the many different facets of life that are supporting you or hindering you from being able to reach your goals and problem solve together towards therapeutic ends.
Reaching Therapeutic Goals:
When you feel you have gotten what you need from the therapy process, you will review with your therapist the changes that have occurred and ways to continue your growth outside the therapy room. We have found that some clients complete their initial goal but find they want to continue therapy with a new focus, while others complete therapy when their initial goal is met. Either way, the decision is always up to you.
